Inova Alexandria Hospital – IV Therapy is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Vascular Access Team to join the team. Full-time, 9-hour dayshifts, 4 days per week. No holidays or weekends. Start and end times & days during the week may vary.

Registered Nurse (RN) Vascular Access Team Job Responsibilities:
- Tailors and prioritizes caring practice to individual needs, including cultural/ethical/spiritual needs
- Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care and determines immediate priorities and offers solutions for problems
- Monitors the EKG, hemodynamic variances, and other physiologic data during the procedure
- Selects appropriate instruments and supplies based on a patient presentation during the procedure and maintains proper sterile technique throughout the procedure
- Updates primary RN with the ability to use line, type of line placed, and any special considerations (eg. gauze dressing or clotting dressing used)
- Immediately recognizes and responds to adverse clinical situations and directs others to assist in a favorable patient outcome
- Documents entire procedure, including complications, equipment used, medications administered as part of the patient's permanent record
- Serves as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to health care team members in educating on infection control, care and maintenance of the inserted device, and clinical resource in troubleshooting
- May perform additional duties as assigned
Additional Requirements:
- Work schedule: Full-time, 9-hour dayshifts, 4 days per week. No holidays or weekends. Start and end times & days during the week may vary.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Associate's Degree. If RN has an Associate's Degree, within 2 years of date of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1.) Identify which accredited school they plan to attend 2.) Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date 3.) Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses 4.) Complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
- Experience: Minimum one (1) year assessing and placing peripheral access including Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC), Midline Catheters, and Peripheral IV's
- Certifications: BLS from the American Heart Association; Vascular Access-Board Certified within 12 months of hire (VA-BC 1 year after completion of orientation).
- Other: Must be comfortable with educating others on proper IV protocols
