Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an excellent opportunity for a Full-time Primary Care Registered Nurse (RN) at Portsmouth's Naval Oceana Clinic in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Position Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s certification as a Registered Nurse (RN) from a National League of Nursing (NLN)-approved program.

Licensure: Have and maintain a valid, unrestricted RN license in at least one state, territory or commonwealth of the United States.

Have and maintain valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certifications

Continuing Education: Certified in at least two alternative medicine treatments that can help with pain management (some examples are yoga, resiliency training, Tai Chi, touch therapy, massage therapy, meditation, etc.) and promote patients’ sense of well-being. Additionally, will educate patients on pain manage and assist in developing patients’ self-management skills.

Experience: Must have at least two (2) years of experience with pain management or related field or must be trained in at least two Alternative Modalities for Pain Management

Position Responsibilities:

  • Teach patients proper self-care and to motivate patients and family members to continue the procedures for promoting rapid healing.
  • Provide support as applicable to supporting Government employees (i.e., hospital corpsmen, technicians, medical students, and resident physicians) during the performance of clinical procedures. Such interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocol.
  • Perform necessary administrative duties that include maintaining statistical records of clinical workload, participating in education programs, and participating in clinical staff quality assurance functions.
  • Participate in meetings to review and evaluate the care provided to patients, identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems exist.
  • Participate in clinical staff quality assurance functions and clinic Performance Improvement/Risk
  • Management Programs as prescribed by the Commander.
  • Attend command orientations. Orientations include initial training requirements (e.g., fire, safety, infection control, and family advocacy) and information systems orientation (including MHS GENESIS and the Ambulatory Data Module (ADM), S3 Surgical Scheduling System. The Government reserves the right to adjust orientation schedules to meet mission and workload requirements.
  • Clinic orientation for the health care worker shall take place during regularly scheduled shifts immediately following the commencement of services.
  • Annual renewal of command directed training requirements including but not limited to: customer relations, disaster preparedness training, sexual harassment, family advocacy, and infection control and
  • blood borne pathogens.
  • Perform necessary administrative duties that include maintaining statistical records of the Health Care Worker’s (HCWKs) workload operate and manipulate automated systems such as MHS GENESIS, participating in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions as prescribed by the commander.
  • Perform administrative duties as directed by supervisor(s) including but not limited to reproducing medical or educational materials, assisting with mailings and phone reminders, preparing documents, and other support functions.
